American Art Editions
A giclée printmaking studio where no two orders are alike — so we built a store where every product is configured, priced, and proofed around the customer's own artwork.
The challenge
American Art Editions makes museum-quality giclée reproductions for artists and photographers — on stretched canvas, fine art papers, even metal. There's no SKU for that. Every order is a unique combination of the customer's artwork, dimensions, material, and finishing options, each with its own price. Cart-and-catalog platforms fundamentally don't model a business like this.
What we built
We built the studio's ordering platform from the ground up: customers upload their artwork, configure exactly what they want — size, substrate, edge treatment, finish — and watch the price calculate in real time before checking out. What used to require an email back-and-forth for every quote became a self-service storefront that works while the studio prints.
Under the hood
The hard parts live where customers never see them: handling large high-resolution artwork files reliably, a pricing engine that mirrors how the studio actually costs its work, and order tooling that hands the print team exactly what they need for each job. It's e-commerce shaped like a working print studio — not the other way around.
Where it stands
The platform is live and taking orders daily, and Fragment Labs continues to support and extend it as the studio's offerings grow.
